"In life, risks must always be taken given the opportunity that a good chance for considerable reward will be achieved. Not taking such a risk would be a risk in itself that should never be taken."

How do you understand this saying? :eyebrow: I havn't met such opportunity that risk should be taken.

I havn't met such opportunity that risk should be taken.

As the quote implies, not taking a risk (and thus forfeiting the possible rewards) can be hazardous, and is thus a risk.

By not being a risk-taker, you run the risk of being boring.

This I understand. I don't find the practical value as other three quotes of #1. I just stay in university, are there any risks to be taken?

L. Neil Smith's Tactical Reflections are nice in this department.

"If you're not a little bit uncomfortable with your position, it
isn't radical enough. How can you be _too_ principled? Take the
most extreme position you can -- you're claiming territory you won't
have to fight for later, mostly against your "allies"."

"Never aim at _anything_ but total achievement of your goal: the
utter capitulation of the enemy. Every effort involves inertia and
mechanical losses, so adopting any lesser objective means partial
defeat. Total victory means you don't have to fight the same fight
again tomorrow."
