Why Do You Have to Eat Me?
I stand my feet slipping through the slats
I'm fed powdered milk to make me fat
My only scenery's metal bars
Not for me the sky or the stars
Apparently I will soon be veal
Nobody bothered to ask how I feel
I will be hung up by my feet
To yield expensive lighter meat

Life's not so bad now we're four to a cage
My life history would take less than a page
They cut off my beak then gave me a home
Where I can't flap my wings or aimlessly roam
Noise never ending, can't get any rest
Sickness and misery wait to infest
Every day I think to myself
I‘ll be better in plastic on your market shelf

It's a very nice poem.
But there are carnivore that also eat meat.
They hunt, and flesh is their primary food.

The only difference in my opinion is that animals grown by people have no options. They have no freedom. They cannot run from us.

Why do all vegan songs and poems have to make us cry?
