Very beautiful dark red to purple colored fruit with velvet-like skin. Fruit is about the size of an apple, with mildly sweet flavored, somewhat mealy, flesh. Fruits are highly esteemed in some areas, but barely known in most parts of the world.

Description: Large tree to 50-100ft. Male and female flowers are produced on separate trees. Both flowers are necessary for pollination and fruit set. Fruiting generally occurs during summertime with fruits ripening from 2-4 months after flowering.

Hardiness: Unknown.

Growing Environment: Grow in full sun. Water regularly.

Propagation: Usually grown from seeds.

Uses: Usually eaten fresh out of hand or used in salads and desserts.

Native Range: Native to the Philippines.
